Dr. Antone Tatooles is a board-certified Cardiothoracic Surgeon with over 25 years of experience in the field of adult cardiac and thoracic surgery. He is currently a Professor in the Department of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery at Rush University Medical Center, where he has practiced since 2018. Dr. Tatooles specializes in the implantation of mechanical assist devices and the treatment of cardiogenic shock, with a particular interest in advanced heart failure.
Dr. Tatooles has held multiple leadership roles throughout his career, including Division Chief of Adult Cardiac Surgery at Rush University Medical Center and Vice Chief of the Division of Surgical Services at Advocate Christ Medical Center. He has also served as the Director of Mechanical Assist Device and Surgery for Congestive Heart Failure at Advocate Christ Medical Center and the President of Cardiac Surgery Clinical Research Center, Inc.
An esteemed educator, Dr. Tatooles has been honored with the prestigious L. Penfield Faber Teacher of the Year award three times (2019, 2022, 2023) for his exceptional contributions to medical education. His work as a teacher and mentor is recognized by his peers and students alike.
